NYC SUBWAY EXIT FINDER
Know what the data can tell you.
ExitNYC provides street-level reference information. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the MTA.
Mapped exits
The bundled MTA Subway Entrances and Exits: 2024 snapshot describes exit-permitted points, entrance types, and station associations. Its August 2024 reference date does not establish current availability. Entrances can change, close, or become restricted after the source snapshot.
MTA entrance and exit dataset ↗Street names and estimated intersections
Some corners come from spatially matched 2016 entrance records. Other labels are approximate nearby intersections from historical records or automatic matches to NYC OTI street-centerline geometry. “Near” means an estimate, not an official exit name, precise corner, or confirmed sign. Ambiguous matches remain map locations.
NYC street-centerline dataset ↗Train-line associations
Official MTA station identifiers link exit records to constituent-station route lists and direction labels. Records with conflicting identifiers remain unconfirmed. Membership in a station complex or line group does not prove that an exit connects to your platform, or that a transfer passage is open.
MTA subway station dataset ↗Distance and accessibility
Straight-line distance is not walking distance or travel time. The app does not model indoor corridors, fare-control boundaries, local/express platform access, train-car positions, or live closures. Elevator points are not verified accessible itineraries. Consult the MTA for current service and accessibility information.
MTA elevator and escalator information ↗Provider attribution and rights
Transit records are attributed to the MTA and New York State Open Data; historical corner records to the MTA-derived CUNY ArcGIS layer; automatic street hints to NYC OTI Centerline; online address search to NYC Planning GeoSearch; and place and business data, online and in the optional offline download, to OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License; online search uses the Photon geocoder by komoot). Google Maps provides the external mapping destination. Third-party data, names, and marks remain subject to their providers’ terms.
